About Me

Kelita R., BSN, RN-BC, known to her following as NurseKayKnows, is a board certified registered nurse currently working as a med-surg/telemetry nurse on a progressive care unit at one of the top magnet hospitals in NYC. With over 10 years of experience in the field of nursing, she has experience in a variety of settings such as long term care, sub acute/acute rehab, dementia nursing, geriatric psych, MDS and utilization review.

Starting her career at age 16 in her high school's LPN program, she became an LPN at age 18 while serving as a member of HOSA, graduating in the top of her nursing cohort, and winning awards for Classroom and Clinical Excellence in Practical Nursing. With her goals in view, she graduated with her AAS from Helene Fuld College of Nursing's accelerated LPN to RN program and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA from her RN to BSN program at CUNY School for Professional Studies. She was a part of exemplary scholars: joining Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society, Dean's List designation, volunteering with medical missions in Haiti, and received rewards for outstanding nursing Portfolio.

Starting in May as a quarantine passion project, Kelita used her vast experience in nursing to create @nursekayknows on Instagram: a space of advice, encouragement and joy amidst her emotional and physical struggles of working as a COVID-19 frontline nurse. Further, she began sharing laughter and smiles with her healthcare colleagues through reels and Tiktoks aimed at poking fun at nurse lifestyle and providing an outlet for all healthcare workers to smile amidst the challenges.

Kelita enjoys providing encouragement and motivation to prospective, new graduate, and experienced nurses alike. Her diverse experiences in healthcare have made a resource to all she encounters. She provides multiple resources and coaching services to help prospective, new graduate, and experienced nurses alike, affectionally known as her "nurse fam."

Her goal is and will continue to be to encourage, motivate and inspire nurses to succeed and grow as professionals and as people.
